Need Info on Copper Canyon, Mexico

Hi, We're considering going to Copper Canyon in Mexico in Feb. 08. Info we've read suggests going in a tour group rather than solo. Prices for tour groups range from $1,000 US to $4,000 US per person. Anybody have info and suggestions for best way and places to travel in Copper Canyon? Thx...............Jasper

I went with 3 friends last year. No tour, had a great time and it did not cost very much at all.
