  • Swamp Buggy in the Ecosystem of the Big Cypress Preserve

Here we are in South Florida on a swamp buggy heading out to camp.

You can see the size of these things, they are huge.  They are also custom made.  There is no manufacturer of swamp buggies.  You just build them out of whatever you can find.

We used AirBoatUsa.com to take us out on this adventure.

  • Craters of the Moon in Idaho was worth the trip!

This was truly a weird place to visit, but extremely incredible.  It takes a long time to get here as it's about 4 hours from Salt Lake City or a few hours from Boise.  You will know you are getting close when you start to see the ground turn black.  The nice thing about this park is that it was not crowded.  The campground was not even filled up on a Saturday in August.

My imagination ran as I looked around at the surrounds and thought of what this place might have been like 2000 years ago during the last eruption.  You could actually see the large vents (splatter cones) that were erupting ash and lava.  What amazed me was the Inferno Cinder cone which was like a small mountain.  We hiked up it.  This mountain grew from the splatter cone just upwind from it.  The thing is huge.  Checkout my blog here to see a picture of it.

Would I recommend to others to see this park?  Absolutely.  If you are in Salt Lake or Idaho its worth taking a drive up there to see it.  The park is located in South Central Idaho.

  • What a great June!

I did some serious adventuring this June!  To start we went to the West, South and North Rim of the Grand Canyon, that was a lot of miles but it was worth it!  Rebel Adventure Tours in Las Vegas took us on a great tour of the West Rim where I got some excellent pictures.

We also went to Glen Canyon and Lake Powell which was probably the most amazing thing I have ever done.  We took a boat out and covered over 100 miles of the lake.  We camped in a little side channel on a sand bar with a huge arch over our heads.  You have to checkout the Escalante portion of the river, its great!

From there we also went to see the Wave, what a great site!

Last week we headed down to meet up with Brad Beaver to raft down 13 miles of the Missouri River near Washington, MO.  What a great time!
