I recently went with my Father on a trip to Missouri to the area he was born - Buffalo, Missouri. One place he went to as a child was Bennett Springs and wanted to return there some 70 some years later.  I had no idea what this place was and soon found out It is also a trout farm/hatchery.  The big thing there is fly fishing - you buy a permit to fish and people did seem to be catching fish. You can also buy fish food and feed the trout in the hatchery area.  I thought it would not be too exciting but I really enjoyed the experience!  There are also cabins, motels and campsites in the area offering swimming and canoeing.   Clint's Mom and her summer travels.....

Clint isn’t the only traveler in the family.  I [Clint’s Mom] just returned from a weekend at the Shawnee National Park in Southern Illinois.  The rock formation called the Garden of the Gods” is really worth seeing.  I don't usually like heights and standing on the edge of a cliff, but the Garden of the Gods didn't intimate me totally!

There are several other sites around there to see, some are hard to find but it seems like asking for directions is very common!  It is a nice trip and well known for great horseback riding – so of course I had to see for myself.  The ride was great – the best trail ride I ever went on!  If you have a need for shopping and antiquing, Paducah KY is not far away.
