Western Parks to Visit During the Fall
Olympic in Northern Washington. See one of the largest contrasting eco spreads in our national park system; from alpine to ocean and almost everything in between. About the only environment missing from Olympic National Park is desert.

The Redwoods in Northern California. There are only two out of three drive-through redwood trees left. One fell over in a wind storm recently. The redwoods are one of the few rain forest type environments available to westerners. A morning walk in the coastal redwoods will almost always require light rain gear.

Canyon lands in Central Utah. One of the most awesome views and best photo ops of the almost surreal landscapes of the Colorado River Valley is the Green River Overlook at Island in the Sky.

The Grand Canyon in Northwest Arizona. Nothing matches the mile deep drop of the canyons. If it were allowed, the distance from top to bottom is so vast that it is actually possible to sky dive there and many have.

Central Parks to Visit During the Fall
Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota. Start a yearlong patriotic over view of America with a visit to the LARGEST collection of US Presidents in the country. (A little national park humor there).

Voyageurs National Park in Northern Minnesota. Bring your kayak. Spending an entire year there would still not be enough time to explore all of the fascinating water ways, inlets and wildlife contained in one of the parks that joins America and Canada.

Indiana Dunes in Northern Indiana. One of the best beaches in the Great Lakes, and full of history to boot. Lounge, learn, swim and fish.

Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve in South East Louisiana. History, culture and outdoor adventure make up the New Orleans atmosphere mixed with canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, and of course, eating. The right time of year will also get you into one of the best and oldest blues music fests in the country.
