This will be a nice addition to the park for those who don’t want to take their own boat out. The water ways have hidden rocks and it is easy to damage your boat, so it is good to know the area before you launch or take a tour. And it's Earth-friendly too. By KBJR News 1Story Updated: May 6, 2008 at 10:37 AM CDT Funding has been approved to return tour boat service to Voyageurs National Park. The National Park Service announced that it will spend $1.4 million to build a new 49-passenger tour boat. It is scheduled to be launched for its first tour in 2010. Voyageurs has not had regular tour boat services for over a decade. MN Congressman James Oberstar worked with a broad-based group of partners to help secure funding for the boat. The new 49-passenger tour boat is 50 feet long and will run on the latest “green” technology.
It will be equipped with highly efficient engines that operate on bio-diesel fuel.
