The sweeping expanse that includes parts of the San Francisco waterfront, Marin Headlands and iconic sites such as Alcatraz Island and Muir Woods would be renamed the Golden Gate National Parks, under a bill by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The legislation would slap a new moniker on the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, officially making it the 59th national park.
