    Bradley Lake Loop; Jackson, WY

The best outdoor vacations we’ve enjoyed all include that most of the activities be centrally located around where we stay. Because we enjoy a great steak dinner or a Caesar salad during our stay, we want trails, mountain views, lakes, rivers and glaciers to be fairly close to our campground or hotel.

That’s one of the reasons that places like The Great Smokey Mountains National Park is our absolute favorite. Step right outside of a great condo or lodge, and you are already on or near a trail or scenic loop.

    Enter, Jackson, WY.

Jackson, Wyoming is a place like that, multiplied. I say multiplied because The Smokies are not known as one of the world’s top skiing resorts. Nor does Gatlinburg, or Pigeon Forge, Tennessee have five star restaurants, hotels and vacation homes where Hollywood’s brightest stars live and play year in and year out.

The perpetually dynamic night life and adult playground is home to dozens of the best venues for skiing, snowboarding, dining and hot tubbing. And, on the map, it’s all within a thumbprint of true outdoors adventures, like this trail; The Bradley Lake Loop.

Preview: Bradley Lake, at the base of the Tetons, was formed by a glacier from Garnet Canyon. The Bradley Lake Loop follows cascading Taggart Creek towards Taggart Lake. The trail climbs over a glacial moraine to Bradley Lake at the mouth of the canyon. On the return, there is an excellent overview of the area as the elevated trail perches over Taggart Lake, traversing an area burned in 1985 Beaver Creek Fire. The new forest is thriving as young lodgepole pine and aspens blanket the area.
