Double Peaked Mountain Trail, Aroostook State Park, New York

This park has the notable distinction of being the northern most recorded park with trails on most maps in the US.

A hike up a double-peaked mountain, one of Aroostook County's two extinct volcanoes. Aroostook State Park is on the shore of Echo Lake, a popular 90-acre body of water that is managed for brook trout. The park features thirty wooded campsites and areas for boat launching, picnicking, and swimming. It also has a number of cross-country ski trails and a network of snowmobile trails. Nearby attractions include the James School, a fully restored one-room schoolhouse, and Haystack Mountain, site of the first successful traps-Atlantic balloon crossing. General location: South of the town of Presque Isle in Aroostook County.
