    Finding a great place to stay at Death Valley

    Death Valley National Park has 3.4 million acres of desert and mountains, making it the largest national park in the United States. The possibilities are endless. Here are a few of the popular places to stay in and around the park.

    The Furnace Creek Inn is open mid-October through Mother's Day. The privately-owned, historic Furnace Creek Inn provides first class resort accommodations in the Furnace Creek area. The Furnace Creek Ranch is open all year and provides motel accommodations in the Furnace Creek area.     The Furnace Creek Inn & Ranch Resort is situated in a thriving oasis surrounded by the desert of Death Valley National Park, California. This is one resort with two hotels; the historic, 4-diamond, 66 room Furnace Creek Inn and the more family oriented 224 room Furnace Creek Ranch.

    At Stovepipe Wells Village you can explore ancient rock formations, swim year round in a sparkling heated swimming pool, watch the sun set behind surrealistic sand dunes and lay your eyes on such unique animal life as squeaking lizards. And, you're just a short distance from the most photographed sand dunes in the world, making Stovepipe Wells Village the perfect place to headquarter your Death Valley adventures.

    The Panamint Springs Resort is open all year. Panamint Springs accommodates resort lodging and camping. Panamint Springs is a small western-style resort seated in the beautiful Panamint Valley in Death Valley National Park. Marvelous views of distant sand dunes and the soaring 11,000' Panamint Mountains complete the setting for leisure dining and relaxation. They are located inside the west entrance of Death Valley National Park. The resort overlooks the stunning geological formations and Sand Dunes of the Panamint Valley.

    If you are planning on doing some exploring, you'll find that Panamint Springs makes a great base camp for neighboring ghost towns, abandoned mines, and even desert waterfalls.     There is Out-of-Park lodging to the East of Death Valley. Facilities are available to the East of Death Valley National Park in most of the towns along Highway 95 in Nevada. These include Tonopah, Goldfield, Beatty, Indian Springs, and Las Vegas. Lodging is also available in Amargosa Valley and at Stateline on Highway 373 in Nevada, and at Death Valley Junction, Shoshone, Tecopa, and Baker on Highway 127 in California. Pahrump, Nevada, halfway between Death Valley and Las Vegas, also has full accomodations available.

    There is also Out-of-Park lodging to the West. Lodging facilities are available to the West of Death Valley National Park in all of the towns along Highways 395/14 and 178. These include Mojave, Ridgecrest, Inyokern, Olancha, Lone Pine, Independence, Big Pine, and Bishop.
