It is quite a drive up to this park with 689 sharp turns and curves on the way up. Even though the road is only 24 miles it will take you about an hour and a half to make it. However, the drive is like no other. You start in the lower desert where it is very hot during July. Some of the way you have to deal with one lane roads, gravel, and oncoming traffic. Once in the park it makes the drive completely worth it (the drive is very scenic driving most of the time of the rim of a canyon). After about 18 miles of driving you will begin to discover large Sequoia trees all over the forest near the road. Some of them as large as you will see in Sequoia park itself. The road does not go very far into the park and if you want to explore it fully you will need a backpack. There is a very wonderful waterfall that you can hike to via Sawtooth trail. It is only about ¾ of a mile but it is going up the entire time.
