With the opening of the Tahoe Rim Trail to bikes, this already scenic ride on a rugged jeep road becomes even more spectacular with views of glorious Lake Tahoe throughout most of the ride. Throw in some twisty singletrack through pine forested slopes spiced with dips and rises and you have a route that requires at least intermediate bike handling skills. Aerobically, even strong riders coming from the flatlands will find this route moderately strenuous. And there are mileage options, too. This 16.2-mile loop can be shortend to an 8.6-mile loop, a perfect bailout option if it’s too arduous or technical, or if you have little time. But if you’re a hard-core, highly skilled hammerhead aching for an all-day major epic adventure, consider combining this 16.2-mile loop with The Flume –TRT Ride via Spooner & Marlette Loop for a 40-plus-mile adventure—an incredible route that has you riding nearly the entire eastern length of Lake Tahoe.
